Rosa was born in Tuskegee, Alabama on February 4,1913.
When she was two and a half years old, her parents divorced
and she never saw her father again. Rosa's mother took her
and her little brother to live at her grandmother's place in
Pine Level. In Pine Level there was a lot of racism. and Rosa
being the strong person that she was tried to fight back. She
was sent to Montgomery to live with her aunt and uncle.

Miss White's school for girls
Rosa moved to Montgomery to live with her aunt and
uncle. She attended Miss White's school for girls which
was a group of northern "white" women who wanted to
teach African Americans in the south. it was widely disliked
by southerner Caucasian people because it tried to give African
American children the same education as "white" children.
